Founder, What's in it for WE™?

Backed by 30+ years in rooms that matter, coaching artists, founders, executives, mentees, friends, and family to become their fullest selves and advocate for who they truly are. Shills has lived and worked at every scale: from someone finding their voice for the first time to executives navigating large-scale change.

The WE Way™ is rooted in a simple but radical idea: flip ME into WE. Whether you’re an artist, a founder, a builder, or a leader, most of us are wired to optimize for ME. Our results, our visibility, our credit. The WE Way™ is a different operating system: put others’ benefit first, and watch what becomes possible.

She has advocated for human rights, built communities where people truly belong, and mentored as a sacred responsibility. She lived the WE Way™ in every room she entered before she ever gave it a name. In 2023 she debuted the question: What’s in it for WE?™ In 2024 she stepped into the name Shills. 01The Mirror

Alex, your answers reveal something specific: you consistently choose the option that sounds collaborative but still centers your contribution. When asked how you handle a decision that affects your whole team, you chose “I present my solution and invite feedback.” That is not WE. That is ME with a courtesy window. The pattern across your responses is someone who cares deeply about others and still, almost invisibly, arrives at conversations with the answer already written. You are not a bad collaborator. You are a very skilled one who has learned to perform collaboration rather than practice it. There is a difference, and your scores know which one you are doing.

02The Honest Truth

You are a Catalyst. Energizing. People want to be around you, build with you, be inspired by you. That is real and it is earned. But every time you synthesize the room’s thinking into your conclusion and present it as “what we all agreed on,” the WE in the room gets smaller. No one notices. That is the problem. You are too skilled at making ME-first decisions feel like WE moments. The cost is not that people leave. It is that they stop bringing their best thinking, because somewhere they learned it will just get folded into yours anyway.

03The Aha Moment

Your highest dimension is Shared Narrative: 3.2 out of 4.0. You are an extraordinarily powerful storyteller who can make a room feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves. That is a superpower you are using at about 60% capacity, because you are still telling a story about WE that quietly stars you. The doorway your next level lives behind is Belonging and Access, your lowest at 1.8. Not because you exclude people intentionally, but because you build for the people already in the room. Every room you have ever created was designed, unconsciously, around who you imagined would show up. Someone is always missing, and you have not asked who yet.

04The Practice

This week, two things. First: before your next meeting or launch, write down one name of someone who should be in the room and is not. Not someone you forgot to invite. Someone you would not normally think to invite. Ask yourself why they are not there. Second: the next time you catch yourself synthesizing a group conversation into your own framing, stop. Say out loud: “What did I miss? What did someone say that I am not including in my version of this?” Both moves are small. Both are the difference between Catalyst and Full-Spectrum WE Leader. Ask yourself tonight: How did I WE today? That one question, asked daily, changes everything.

05The Invitation

The version of you that is already emerging knows that the most powerful thing you can build is a room where your presence is not the point. Where the WE you created keeps going after you leave. That is the WE > ME shift: not the erasure of self, but the expansion of impact. You are close. Closer than most people who take this assessment.
